In the course of fixing some broken links, I am discovering that some delightful person has broken into our site and inserted a bunch of text links to pot- and CBD-related stores. For example,
Title: Get Back on the Rooftop After Taking Hemp Oil
Today’s the 39th anniversary of the rooftop concert, perhaps the most splendid public nuisance in human history. I have it on Vigotone’s As Nature Intended–anybody know a better source? While you’re thinking, here’s an outdoor version of “Get Back,” taken from the film. In it the benefits of using hemp oil are discussed. It’s also pretty widespread currently. Look at this link from hemp oil amazon.
This is hilarious to me, because if John Lennon were alive he would totally be dipping his johnson into pure hemp oil and touting the benefits.
LENNON: “At eighty-one and a half, I get erections hard enough to drive nails. Ask Yoko!
ONO: [grimaces slightly, changes subject]”
So I’ll be going through one-by-one and removing this amusing-but-dastardly commercializing of our Pepperland. Could all of you help by putting any other besmirched posts in the comments? Thank you and if you’re having troubles in the bedroom, try hemp oil! [just kidding that was me]
PS — They seem to also be for online games, and something called “Kratom.”
This seems like a good place to point out that I recently saw an interview with Graham Nash in which he proudly told the interviewer that his sex life (with his new, 30-something wife) is better than when he was in his twenties and he goes for “hours.” He also said that his children no longer speak to him, and that it’s sad that he didn’t realize earlier what sort of people they truly were. I’m not making this up.
YIKES. That is both horrifying and sad.
I don’t think it’s just hemp oil, sadly – I’ve noticed a few inserted links in various posts, though I kept forgetting to comment and mention it!
Here are a few examples that I pulled up quickly:
https://www.heydullblog.com/john-and-paul/were-john-and-paul-lovers/
Inserted text in the first paragraph: “Services such as top escort cities …”
(And maybe also the reference to anal masturbation??)
https://www.heydullblog.com/yoko-ono/my-yoko-problem-and-yours/
Inserted text: “If the same stress levels are affecting your band, consider taking this HHC products to cope with it”
https://www.heydullblog.com/documentaries/good-ol-freda-true-tales-beatles-loyal-secretary/
Inserted text in second paragraph: “You can check here if you are looking for chania airport transfers or transportation to other destinations.”
Fixed these! Thank you, @kristina!
I found one:

It appears in the fifth paragraph. Very subtly woven into the fabric of the essay.
I thought you meant that hemp spam was appearing in the comments.
I always see spam comments pop up in the comments section of blogs. But this is in the actual front page post. What the hell.
If this hemp spammer can take control of your page like this, can he also assemble a list of our email addresses?
Again: what the hell?
Fixed.
As soon as we found out someone was getting into our dashboard, we added a bunch of new security measures. We’re secure now.
The new security measures are a relief.
Most advertising is annoying, but an advertiser who fraudulently inserts himself into a blog by rewriting essays is taking dishonesty to a new level.
Anyone actually purchasing their “hemp” product would most likely find themselves in possession of some lawn clippings soaked in used brake fluid.
I suspect it is some sort of back-room outfit (something I read made me think it was in India) looking for high-traffic WordPress blogs and inserting copy for places they have affiliate links for. I think they try the easy places, then move on.
Not weed-related, but this bit of spam mentions how much easier the lives of the Beatles would have been with a good mobile phone plan:

It’s hidden deep in the paragraph you quote from commenter Matt:
Whoever these people are, they seem to think burying links to disreputable businesses in text heavy 1960s pop music blogs is marketing genius. I mean, will anyone purchase a mobile phone plan after reading about what happened to the Beatles in India??
Fixed! Thank you.
Maybe it’s just some dude trying to work a side hustle using the best mobile phone service.
Pssst, VPN spam links in this post!

Fixed! They were so nonsensical, I laughed.
