Please, if you’re legally able to do so in the United States, get out and vote today. If you have an absentee or mail ballot, drop it off at an authorized collection place (preferably one that is attended by an actual person), and track the status of your ballot online.
I believe that most of us who contribute to or read this blog are drawn to the Beatles at least in part because their music offers us a measure of hope and encouragement. They wrote plenty of songs about sadness, and even despair. They didn’t shy away from the complexity of reality, but there’s a reason the Beatles are popularly associated with hopefulness. For all their flaws, they did want the world to be a better, fairer place. And today, that’s a vote for Biden and Harris.

It’s my fervent hope that today may mark the beginning of a brighter future and that we’ll have good reason to sing “Here Comes The Sun.”

Awesome! Already voted for Biden/Harris, and I believe our heroes would have encouraged us all to do the same. Instead of so much division and hate, let’s give peace a chance, because all you need is love.
My wife and I voted this morning. We arrived at 6am and there was already a line.
The whole experience took almost an hour.
While we were waiting on line, a big truck rolled slowly by with two big flags in honor of the current POTUS. Truck guy clearly wants a second term for his guy.
To quote the Beatles: “Not A Second Time”
Heh. If only it was “Not a First Time.”
A group from my family stood in line five hours to early-vote a couple weeks ago, and so we probably could have gone more quickly on the actual poll day! Anyway, we know we’ve done our part to hopefully change things up, though our state is pretty firmly on the redder side of the political line.

My wife and I were watching “Inside Edition” on TV (don’t mock us, we’re old) and they did a quick segment on the sort of pop culture Biden and Trump like.
Biden is a Beatles fan. Trump is more of a Rolling Stones guy.

Except the Stones don’t want to be associated with Trump either! They hated that he kept playing “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Certainly an ironic song choice now!
